Service is great. The new space is a bit better. It's larger (I still miss the old space, nostalgia)
There's casino games and a pool hall and I believe a full bar. Not sure since I've only been here a few times just to grab a quick luck and not to hang out.
The servers and staff are attentive. Food is good. Make sure to specify fried mushroom otherwise you may just get fried mushrooms that are not your typical fair. It's ok, they're good about fixing any issues that you might have. Just let them know. They're awesome! -

A NEW BEGINNING
Seasons change, leases expire, and the updated digs of this greasy spoon in Melrose Park are worthy of a +1 star bump.
At some point in mid-2018, Harlo Grill closed their original location at North & 25th Ave, where they'd been for decades. Apparently the lease was up (though I'm convinced the health code violations may have stacked to the point where the owners just said "f*ck it, this place is falling apart, burn this bitch to the ground.")
They moved the classic marquee sign and re-opened half a block east in an area formerly occupied by the mysterious Club Harlo. Whereas the old spot was dilapidated, poorly lit, and had limited counter seating, the cushy new venue is bright, spacious, and respectably clean. I'm very happy to report that the menu remains the same, as do the crazy low food prices.
It seems as though most of the employees carried over, too. The guy working the griddle whipped up my Hobo skillet ($6.10) in a jiffy. It had plenty of potatoes & onions, topped with two eggs perfectly sunny side. I added jalapeno peppers for good measure; every order comes with buttered toast and jelly.
Harlo's burgers are decent but the breakfast items are standouts. You can get 2 eggs with bacon and hash browns for as little as $5! That's insane. Oh, and their selection of liquid condiments is tough to beat (Cholula, Tabasco, sriracha, plus a few others). They've got you covered, my hot sauce loving friend.
* TL;DR *
Going from a total dive (whose hygienic practices were questionable at best and at worst, alarming) to a bigger, brighter space has made a world of difference. The sanitation score is still a far cry from many other places, however, but maybe a teensy bit of raw bacon germs aren't the worst thing for our immune systems, y'know?
I was worried that a shift in scenery would also dictate a change in menu, but fortunately that's not the case. All your favorites are still as available as ever, 24/7, 365, from now until the end of time. As always, they are **cash only**.
Don't let the shiny new digs fool you -- Harlo Grill remains the OG. -

Your typical diner is small, and congested, and Harlo Grill has a much more open and spacious feel to it. I had two eggs scrambled with American cheese, bacon, wheat toast, and sliced tomatoes instead of hashbrowns.
My daughter had a cheeseburger with Bacon, lettuce and fries on the side. We both really enjoyed our meals.
It is worth noting that they do not take any type of credit cards however they do have an ATM on site so that you can get cash if needed. -

The prices can not be beat. Best burger in town for $2!!
Love their hashbrowns and the staff is extremely nice.
2 of us ate Sunday mornings for breakfast and it was only $16.

Came up to Chicago for a convention and was looking for something good to eat around my hotel near the airport. I usually ask the locals what's good and some people from Target near by said Harlo's was good and it was open 24 hours!
I love local places and the diner had that classic burger joint feel.
I'm a pescatarian so I couldn't try their burgers but asked them to make a veggie sandwich for me with as many veggies as they could.
What came in my to go order was absolutely delicious! Amazing baguettes and the chef added mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and eggs which was surprisingly really filling for how cheap everything was.
Definitely on the list of places to eat when I come back to Chicago.
